Orlando Fuel Filter Heater Issue

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2017 Chevrolet Orlando diesel. It's got 241071 km on the clock. I'm getting an error, and the engine power is significantly reduced. Engine response is poor, fuel consumption seems higher than usual, and the idle is a bit uneven. I've checked the obvious things, but haven't found anything. I suspect the fuel filter heater might be the issue, perhaps a defective cable or plug connection? Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

The conversation centers around a 2017 Chevrolet Orlando diesel experiencing reduced engine power, poor response, increased fuel consumption, and uneven idle. The initial suspicion was a faulty fuel filter heater, possibly due to a defective cable or plug connection. A similar past issue was resolved by addressing a faulty connection to the fuel filter heater. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a defective cable to the fuel filter heater, which was repaired, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! I've got a Chevrolet Orlando too, though I can't remember the year right now. I had similar symptoms a while back – reduced power, rough idle, the works. It ended up being a fuel system issue, potentially related to the filter. Did you check the fuel filter itself? When was the last time you replaced it?

Thanks for the quick response! I haven't replaced the fuel filter recently. I was hoping to avoid that for now, as I was focusing on the heater element due to the error code. But if you had a similar problem, maybe I should take a closer look at the filter itself. Can you recall any specific details about what fixed your issue?

Honestly, I didn't delve too deep myself. I took it to a workshop as soon as the symptoms persisted. They ran some diagnostics and pinpointed it to a faulty connection to the fuel filter heater, and the high fuel consumption. I'd recommend getting it checked professionally, especially with those symptoms.

Appreciate the advice. I suspected as much. I'll book it in for a check-up. It turns out, the cable to the fuel filter heater was defective, just like I thought. 95€ later and it's all sorted!
