Orlando handsfree microphone failure

Hi, my 2016 Chevrolet Orlando, gasoline engine, is giving me headaches. The hands-free microphone seems dead. Telephony is no longer possible and the error memory mentions something. I suspect a defective infotainment system. Anyone else experienced this, or have any ideas before I start pulling things apart?

Summary of the thread

A 2016 Chevrolet Orlando experienced a failure in its hands-free microphone, rendering telephony functions inoperative. The issue was suspected to be a defective infotainment system, as other audio functions worked correctly. The problem was confirmed by a workshop, which identified an internal fault in the infotainment system, necessitating its replacement. After the repair, the system functioned properly again.

Good day. I understand you're encountering difficulties with your Chevrolet Orlando's hands-free system. Could you please elaborate on the ambient noise conditions during your attempts to utilize the microphone? Furthermore, have you assessed the sound quality of other audio sources, such as the radio, to ascertain whether the issue is isolated to the Bluetooth functionality?

Thanks for the quick reply. The ambient noise doesn't seem to matter, I've tried in complete silence. The radio sound quality is perfect, and the volume controls work as expected. It really seems to be isolated to when the system tries to use the microphone for calls. Any thoughts?

Acknowledged. Given the circumstances you have described, the elimination of ambient noise and proper radio operation strongly indicate an issue confined to the Bluetooth module or the microphone circuit within the infotainment system itself. Based on the mileage, it's entirely plausible one of the components failed. In light of this development, proceeding to a reputable workshop equipped with diagnostic tools suitable for your vehicle's make and model would be the advisable course of action.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I went to a workshop, and as suspected, the infotainment system was indeed defective and needed replacement due to an internal fault. The repair, including parts and labor, set me back 815€. Everything is working fine now!
