I'm getting an error with my 2011 Chevrolet Orlando diesel. It has 241175 km on it. The error memory shows a tailgate hall sensor issue, and the tailgate isn't opening completely. I think it might be a cable or plug connection problem. Anyone seen this before?

Funnily enough, I had a similar thing happen with my old Volvo V70 a while back. Same symptoms – faulty sensor reading and the tailgate only partly working. Have you checked the sensor wiring for damage or corrosion?

With the Volvo, the wiring looked okay, but the connector had internal corrosion. The dealer found it when they really went over the connections. You could keep troubleshooting yourself, but electrical problems can be tricky. I'd suggest a good workshop. They've got the equipment to find the exact problem. It might save you time and money in the end.
