Otti Oil Pressure Light and Engine Noise

I've got a 2005 Nissan Otti with a gasoline engine. The engine oil pressure light is on, and there are loud mechanical noises coming from the engine. It's done 164917 kilometers. I suspect the oil pump, but could it also be a clogged oil filter or a major oil leak?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Nissan Moco. Is the sound like a knocking? Could be oil pump failure, but check the simple stuff first. When was the last time you changed your oil filter?

Thanks, yes, the sound is like a knocking. The oil filter was changed about 5000 kilometers ago. Should I still check the oil filter before looking at the oil pump?

5000 km? Nah, filter should be fine. With those noises and the oil light, it's likely the pump. I'd take it to a workshop before things get worse. Could be engine bearings too if the oil pressure is really low.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a mechanic, and they confirmed it's a failing oil pump. The repair was 755€ including parts and labor. Thanks again for your help.
