Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm at 122803 KM on the clock and just had my service done last month. No rattling sounds so far, but that exhaust leak theory makes sense given the symptoms. Definitely going to have it checked at the dealership, already booked an appointment for next week. Better safe than sorry with these hybrid systems. Really hoping it's just a minor leak and nothing more serious!

Hey again! Thanks for the update on your Outlander. You know, after dealing with my Eclipse Cross issue, I actually had something similar happen at around 125,000 KM, so we're in the same ballpark mileage-wise. Good call booking it with the dealership, that's exactly what I did the second time around. Since you're not hearing any rattling (unlike what I had with my exhaust leak), I'm starting to think it might actually be that exhaust temp sensor I initially suspected. When I got mine checked out, the technician mentioned that these sensors can start acting up around this mileage, especially in PHEVs due to the constant switching between electric and gas modes. Let me know what the dealership finds! I'm really curious if it turns out to be similar to either of my experiences. Quick tip: make sure they check the sensor connections too, sometimes it's just a loose wire causing all this drama. Fingers crossed it's something simple! Keep us posted

That's really helpful info about the sensor connections! I had no idea the switching between electric and gas modes could affect them like that. Makes total sense though, given how these hybrids work. I'll definitely mention checking the connections to the technician when I take it in next week. It's actually a bit relieving to hear that you've dealt with similar issues around this mileage, makes me feel less worried about it being something major. I'll update the thread once I get it checked out. Really appreciate all your insights and taking the time to share your experiences. You've given me some good talking points for when I visit the dealership!

Hey there! I have some experience with cars and had a similar issue with my 2019 Eclipse Cross PHEV (another Mitsubishi hybrid). The symptoms were pretty much identical, CEL, weak performance, and that nasty exhaust smell. Turned out I had multiple leaks in the exhaust system. Took it to my regular workshop, and they found cracks near the manifold and some corroded sections. Cost me about 265€ to get it all fixed up with new gaskets and welding work. But before you jump to conclusions, what's the mileage on your Outlander? Also, have you noticed any metallic rattling sounds? These details would help me better understand if you're facing the same problem I did. Side note: since Mitsubishi hybrids can be tricky, I'd recommend having a dealer or hybrid-certified mechanic take a look. These systems are a bit more complex than regular cars.
