Overheating and air conditioning problems with 2014 Mercedes AMG GT: looking for advice

A/C System Not Engaging

Overheating

Hey guys, I've recently started having problems with my 2014 Mercedes AMG GT (gasoline, 106470 km), it keeps overheating and the air conditioning won't start. I suspect that the engine fan speed sensor may be faulty. Has anyone had similar experiences and can give me tips on what I should look out for on my next visit to the garage? My last experience with the garage was not the best... Thanks in advance!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2011 Mercedes SLS AMG. My control unit was defective and made my life really difficult. The first signs were irregular revs and that the electronics were spinning. The engine wasn't running smoothly and my car was pure horror. After a diagnostic check in the workshop, it was clear that the control unit had to be replaced. The control unit really is the control center of the car. If it causes problems, it can trigger many other faults. In my case, the entire part had to be replaced. So it was a serious problem. Next time you visit the garage, I would recommend having the control unit checked first, as it could easily be the root of your problem. After that was replaced, my car ran like a dream again. Keep at it and don't give up, it'll be fine!

Hey, thanks for the helpful tips, I'll definitely bring this up at my next workshop visit. Your experience doesn't sound pleasant, but it's good to know that everything worked out in the end. Do you remember how much you paid for the repair? And have you had any other problems with your car since then? Thanks again!

Hey, no problem, we car nuts have to stick together! So, after I had the control unit repaired for a whopping 1000 euros, my car worked like a dream again, so I think it was worth every penny. And yes, I can still remember that after my visit to the mechanic, the engine fan speed sensor was actually faulty - but don't worry, it doesn't have to be the same for you! Since changing the control unit, everything has been running like clockwork for me. I hope everything is just as well sorted for you, keep your fingers crossed!

Hey, that's a huge help, thanks! It's reassuring to know that problems like this can be solved. I think I'll ask my mechanic to check the ECU and the speed sensor. Hearing your success, I hope mine ends up the same way. I will keep you posted and share the details of my workshop visit. Thanks again for your helpful reply!
