Overheating Issue and A/C Failure in 2020 Fiat Mobi: Possible Faulty Motor Fan Speed Sensor

Hey, I've got a bit of a situation with my 2020 Fiat Mobi which runs on a gasoline engine and has clocked about 189096 km. Recently it's been getting hot under the hood and my A/C just won't kick in. I'm thinking the motor fan speed sensor could be on the fritz. Anyone encountered similar issues? How'd your mechanic handle it? Just a bit nervous after a nasty garage experience last time. Appreciate any tips or stories you can share!

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Fiat Mobi is experiencing overheating and A/C failure, suspected to be due to a faulty motor fan speed sensor. This issue is similar to a problem encountered with a 2017 Fiat Tipo, where the sensor malfunction led to overheating and A/C issues. The solution involved diagnosing and replacing the faulty sensor, which resolved the problem without affecting the car's overall performance. The suggested course of action is to have the sensor checked and replaced by a mechanic to restore normal function.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey there! I got your back ran into a similar issue with my 2017 Fiat Tipo last year. The good ol' motor fan speed sensor was acting up, causing the car to heat up and the A/C to give out. It was a bit of a pain, I'll admit. Took the car to my trusty garage, and the first diagnostic was, indeed, a dud speed sensor. The mechanic confirmed it using some nifty computer diagnostics. The process isn't super complex, but it does require some work. The garage needed to pull out the old sensor, replace it with a new one, then test drive the car to ensure the issue was sorted. I should stress though, for all the hassle, the issue didn't appear to cause any serious problem to the car's overall performance, apart from the heating and the A/C issue. After the sensor got replaced, I was back on the road and haven't experienced the issue since. Hope this helps you out!

Hey! Seriously appreciate you sharing your ordeal. That sounds exactly like what my Mobi's going through. Do you recall roughly how much the garage charged you for the diagnostics and replacement job? And since the fix, have there been any other issues that popped up on your Tipo? Just wanna brace myself for any further unpleasant surprises. Thanks again, you're a lifesaver!

Hey no sweat, happy to help a fellow car owner out! In terms of the moolah, the repair on the speed sensor set me back about 250 bucks, all ready to roll. Talk about a dent in my wallet, but hey, better safe than sorry, right? Since getting the fix done, the Tipo's been running like a dream! No more hot hoods or faulty A/C. I can't promise your Mobi won't have other issues down the line, what with cars being the temperamental beasts they are. But regarding this particular problem, once it was sorted, all was cool under the hood. Literally! Hope this eases your nerves a bit. If you've got more questions, fire away. Here to help!

Thanks a ton! Your help means a lot. With your estimate, I'm prepped for the cost and fingers crossed, I too won't face any further issues after the fix. It's comforting to know I'm not alone in these kinds of transportation troubles. If there's anything else I encounter down the road, I'll for sure shoot you a message. You truly are a godsend. Cheers!
