Overheating problem and low coolant level in Peugeot Traveller Diesel 2019

Hi guys, I could use some help with my 2019 Peugeot Traveller Diesel. Lately it's been overheating and the coolant level is lower than usual. I think the radiator shutter might be the problem but I'm not sure. Have any of you had experience with this problem or similar symptoms? How did your garage fix it? Any tips would be appreciated.

Summary of the thread

A 2019 Peugeot Traveller Diesel is experiencing overheating and low coolant levels, suspected to be caused by a radiator shutter issue. A similar case with a 2017 Peugeot Expert Diesel revealed a faulty and corroded wiring harness to the sensor as the cause. The suggested solution is to have the wiring harness checked at a garage, as it could be a relatively inexpensive repair if it is indeed the problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I have a bit of experience with cars and had a similar problem with my 2017 Peugeot Expert Diesel. At my garage they found that the wiring harness to the sensor was faulty and corroded, which is why my car was also overheating and the coolant level was low. It cost me 155 euros to have this repaired. But to be able to help you more precisely, I could use more details about your vehicle. What engine characteristics does it have? Have you noticed if the symptom occurs after driving long distances, during short trips or in certain driving conditions (like high speed or in the city)? The more details you can share, the better.

Thanks for your reply and the helpful information! So it's the 2.0L BlueHDi 150 engine in my Peugeot. I've noticed the overheating mainly on long journeys, not necessarily in town. I recently had my annual inspection, everything was fine and my mileage is 84080 KM. Keep the wiring harness thing in mind, maybe it's the same with mine.

Hey, thanks for the additional info! Based on your information, the problem sounds very similar to my Peugeot Expert. Especially if the overheating mainly happens on long journeys, the faulty wiring harness to the sensor could be the culprit. Another indication could be that the temperature display in the cockpit sometimes rises spontaneously and then drops again. I would definitely have this checked at the workshop. Don't forget to mention the issue with the wiring harness, maybe the mechanics can then look in the right place. But don't stress too much - if it really is the wiring harness, it's not a super expensive repair! Good luck and keep us up to date. Safe drive!

Great, thanks for the tips! I've also noticed the spontaneous rise and fall in the temperature display. I'll make an appointment at the garage tomorrow and talk to them about the wiring harness. You've really helped me out! Hopefully it's nothing worse and I'll get away with a similar bill to yours. I'll report back here when I know more. Until then, have a good trip too!
