Oxygen Sensor Error Code and Fuel Consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Honda Stream is experiencing a check engine light and increased fuel consumption, with an error code pointing to an oxygen sensor issue. The suspected causes include a defective cable or plug connection. It is suggested to inspect the sensor for physical damage or take the vehicle to a mechanic for a professional assessment, as it might be a simple fix like a faulty connection.

I haven't personally inspected the sensor for damage, mostly because I'm not entirely sure where it's located or how to properly access it without potentially causing further problems. Is it easily visible, or does it require removing other components to get to it? I'm hesitant to start poking around too much without some guidance.

Okay, I understand. Honestly, unless you're comfortable working on cars, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. It could be a simple fix like the connection, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I ended up paying around 95€ for the repair at my local garage.

Thanks so much for your advice! Given my limited mechanical skills and your recommendation, I've decided to take it to a trusted mechanic. Hopefully, it's just a faulty connection as suspected and the repair cost won't be too astronomical. I will post the resolution once it's resolved. Fingers crossed!

Hey, I also drive a Stream, and your problem sounds awfully familiar! I had almost the exact same symptoms a while back – check engine light, bad fuel economy, and an O2 sensor error code. Have you checked the sensor itself for any physical damage?
