Oxygen Sensor Issue Lexus SC

I'm experiencing issues with my 2000 Lexus SC with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and the scan shows an oxygen sensor error. I've also noticed increased fuel consumption. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone else encountered this?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar experience with my SC. The O2 sensor went haywire, and my fuel economy took a nosedive. It's like trying to run a marathon with a pebble in your shoe – annoying and inefficient. Was the error code pointing to a specific sensor?

The error code doesn't specify a particular sensor, just a general air-fuel ratio imbalance. Is that what you experienced? Did you try cleaning the sensor first, or did you just replace it?

Yeah, that's pretty much what I saw too - a vague air-fuel ratio thing. I didn't bother cleaning it; those sensors are like old lightbulbs, sometimes they just burn out. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop. In my case it was also a defective cable, so they had to replace both.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a trusted workshop, and as you suspected, the O2 sensor was indeed faulty, and so was the cable. After replacing both, the car runs smoothly again. The total repair cost was 95€.
