Palio oil temperature warning light
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Fiat Palio owner is experiencing an oil temperature warning light and oil pressure warning lamp issue, suspecting a faulty engine oil temperature sensor. A similar past issue with an Opel Astra was resolved by addressing a faulty connection to the sensor, which included corrosion and a loose wire. The suggested solution is to inspect the sensor's cable and plug connection for damage, and if unresolved, consider replacing the sensor, potentially requiring professional assistance.

Thanks for the quick response. You mentioned a 'dodgy connection'. Could you elaborate on what you mean by that? Were there any visible signs of damage, or was it something more subtle?

Sure thing. With my Astra, the connection looked fine at first glance, but upon closer inspection, the plug had some corrosion inside. Also, the wire leading into the plug was slightly loose. I tried cleaning the contacts, but the problem persisted. It's likely the cable or plug connection is defective, so you may need to go to a workshop. I had to get the sensor replaced in the end. Cost me around 100€ back then.

Appreciate the detailed explanation. I'll check the connections thoroughly, but it sounds like a trip to the workshop is inevitable. I just got a quote for 95€ including parts and labor so I'll get it done. Thanks for the help!

That sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra a few years back. Same symptoms: warning light, error code, and the oil pressure light playing up. In my case, it turned out to be a dodgy connection to the sensor. Is it possible to check the cable or plug connection of the component?
