Palisade AC undervoltage issue
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Hyundai Palisade with a gasoline engine is experiencing air conditioning issues, specifically not switching on and not cooling, with an error stored in the memory. The problem could be due to undervoltage, potentially caused by a bad ground, weak battery, or alternator issues, which might prevent the compressor from engaging properly. After professional diagnosis, the issue was identified as a faulty sensor causing a voltage drop, which was replaced to resolve the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the belt tensioner yet, but will do that first thing tomorrow. When you say undervoltage, what exactly are you referring to? A bad ground somewhere, or something else?

Yes, bad ground, weak battery, alternator not charging correctly, that sort of thing. Think of it like trying to run a marathon with only one lung. The system might try to start, but not have enough juice to keep running. Given the error code and symptoms, it's best to get it checked professionally. Could be something simple, could be the compressor itself.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to a workshop, and you were spot on about the undervoltage. Turns out it was a faulty sensor causing a voltage drop. Replaced it, cleared the codes, and A/C is blowing cold again. Total cost 240€.

Could be a few things. Since you have an error code, that's a good starting point. Undervoltage could definitely cause the compressor to shut off. Have you checked the belt tensioner? A loose belt could cause the compressor to not engage properly, like a slipping clutch.
