Partner Boost Pressure Fault

Hi, I have a 2010 Peugeot Partner diesel with 165044 km. The check engine light is on, and the engine power is reduced. It has poor engine response, and higher fuel consumption. I suspect a boost pressure control fault. Any ideas?

Greetings. I experienced a similar issue with my Opel Astra, albeit a petrol engine. The symptoms you describe strongly suggest a problem within the boost pressure regulation system. Have you checked the pressure sensor readings, and did you observe compressor surge during acceleration? Is the bypass valve functioning correctly?

Thanks for the info. Where exactly is the pressure sensor located, and how can I check for compressor surge? Also, how can I test the bypass valve?

While I cannot provide specific instructions applicable to your Peugeot Partner due to variations in vehicle design, the pressure sensor is typically located on the intake manifold or intercooler piping. Regarding the compressor surge, listen for unusual fluttering or whooshing noises during rapid acceleration. As for the bypass valve, a visual inspection for leaks or damage might reveal issues, however proper testing requires specialized equipment. Based on your description and my own experience, a defect in a vacuum switching valve is a probable cause. I recommend consulting a qualified technician for diagnosis and repair.

Took it to a shop. It was indeed a faulty vacuum switching valve. Repair cost was 140€. Thanks for the help!
