Partner bumper antenna electrical issues

I'm having some weird electrical issues with my 2004 Peugeot Partner (gasoline engine). It's got about 76,000 km on it. The problem seems to stem from the bumper antenna. I keep getting an error stored in the error memory. Also, the remote unlocking and locking don't work properly anymore, and the engine won't start unless the key is physically in the ignition. I've checked the fuses, and they seem fine. I suspect it might be a cable or plug issue with the antenna itself, but I'm not sure where to start looking. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my Partner. Radio signal was terrible, and the remote key fob became unreliable. Check the antenna base where it connects to the bumper. Water ingress can cause corrosion and disrupt the signal. Also, inspect the wiring harness leading to the antenna; a damaged wire could be the culprit.

Thanks for the tip! When you say antenna base, do you mean where the antenna screws into the bumper, or is there something more to it? And did you eventually manage to fix it yourself, or did you end up taking it to a shop?

Yes, where the antenna screws into the bumper is what I meant. The connector there is exposed to the elements. Honestly, I fiddled with it for a while, cleaned the contacts, but it was a temporary fix. The problem kept coming back, so I eventually took it to a workshop to get it sorted properly. Best to avoid damaging anything. They ran a diagnostic test and confirmed it was a faulty antenna connection.

Okay, thanks a lot for sharing your experience! Sounds like I'm heading for a similar outcome. I'll check the connection point as you suggested, but I think a trip to the shop is probably inevitable. I got a quote for around 95€, so it looks like I will go there.
