Partner check engine light sluggish

Hey, I've got a 2014 Peugeot Partner, gasoline engine, and the check engine light keeps popping on. The car feels a bit sluggish sometimes, like it's not getting enough air. Could it be something with the air valve? I've read a bit about manifold pressure issues and engine stalling but honestly, I'm not very mechanically inclined. It's done 230641 km. Any ideas what I should check first?

Good day. The symptoms you describe certainly point towards a potential air supply issue. Has the check engine light illuminated consistently, or is it intermittent? Have you noticed any unusual noises emanating from the engine bay, specifically around the air intake or valve area? It sounds like the hose connection from the pump to the valve defective could be the root of your issue, and it would be very useful to know if the car experiences rough idling, particularly after a cold start.

Thanks for getting back to me! The light is pretty consistent now, stays on most of the time. I haven't really noticed any weird noises, but I'll listen more closely. Rough idling... hmm, maybe a little bit after starting, but it usually smooths out after a minute or so. If it's the hose connection like you said, is that something a complete novice could tackle, or am I better off taking it to a workshop?

Acknowledged. Given the consistency of the check engine light and the slight rough idling you've observed, I strongly recommend professional diagnosis. Based on the details provided, a defective hose connection from the pump to the valve is the most probable explanation. Attempting a repair without the appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment may exacerbate the problem. A qualified technician can accurately confirm the source of the problem and replace the defective components. Workshop visit strongly advised.

Okay, thanks for the advice! I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on – it was the hose connection from the pump to the valve. They replaced it, and the check engine light is gone. Cost me 175€, but it's running much better now!
