Partner EGR Valve Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2017 Peugeot Partner diesel. It's done 298491 km. I've noticed a drop in power, the check engine light is on, and it's blowing smoke when I accelerate. It also runs rough, seems to be using more fuel, jerks, and I can hear a hissing sound when I put my foot down. Could this be the EGR valve?

I had similar issues with my Partner. Is the catalytic converter also affected? Often the EGR valve failure puts extra strain on it. Check the exhaust for excessive smoke during idle.

I haven't specifically checked the catalytic converter, but I have noticed the exhaust fumes seem worse than usual, especially when idling. What exactly did you experience with your Partner, and what fixed it for you?

The symptoms were identical: rough idle, reduced power, check engine light. Based on your description, I'd suspect a defective EGR valve. It might be jammed open or closed. Take it to a workshop and ask them to check the EGR valve first.

I took it to a workshop as you suggested. Turns out the EGR valve was indeed defective. They replaced it, and the total cost was 355€. The car runs perfectly now. No more smoke, the engine runs smoothly, and the check engine light is off. I appreciate your help!
