Partner Headlight Windshield Washer Fault

I'm experiencing a fault with my 2000 Peugeot Partner diesel. The vehicle has 199741 km. My headlight cleaning system seems to have stopped working, and the windshield washer system no longer works either. I suspect it might be a defective cable connection to the pump or the relay. Could anyone advise on whether I'm on the right track or suggest other areas to investigate? I assume the headlight cleaning system is Xenon, could a hose leak be an issue?

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, although that one was petrol. The symptoms were exactly the same – no windshield washer function and the headlight washers packed in. Have you checked the fuse for the washer pump? It's a long shot, but it’s always the simplest things that get you! A blown fuse can take out both systems if they're on the same circuit. If not, the pump itself might be the culprit.

Thanks for the quick response. I did have a quick look at the fuses, but I'll double-check them more thoroughly now that you mention it. Whereabouts was the washer pump located in your Astra? I'm trying to trace the wiring to see if I can spot any obvious breaks or corrosion, but access is a bit limited on the Partner. Also, did your Astra have an LED system, or was it a basic halogen?

Right, the pump on my Astra was located in the washer fluid reservoir, accessible from the wheel arch after removing the wheel and the plastic liner. It was a pain to get to! I think you're best off taking it to a workshop. Given the age, it will need someone with diagnostic equipment. As for the lights, mine were just standard halogen, nothing fancy.

Okay, thanks for the help! I took it to my local workshop and it turns out the cable connection of the pump was defective. They replaced the defective cable and did a scan, all in all it cost me 165€.
