Partner stalling rough idle smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Peugeot Partner with a gasoline engine is experiencing stalling at idle, increased fuel consumption, and smoke during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion was a defective mass air flow sensor (LMM). After considering a dirty air filter as a potential cause, it was determined that the mass air flow sensor was indeed defective. The issue was resolved by replacing the sensor at a workshop.

That's an interesting point! The air filter is something I haven't yet investigated. Were your symptoms identical to mine, with the increased fuel consumption and smoke during acceleration? Did the air filter resolve all the issues?

I didn't have the smoke, but definitely the stalling and rough running. Changing the air filter helped a bit, but it didn't completely solve the problem. Eventually, I had to take it to a workshop. They said it was the mass air flow sensor itself was defective. So, yeah, maybe get it checked out properly.

It seems a trip to the workshop was inevitable. After diagnostics, the workshop confirmed the mass air flow sensor was defective and replaced it. The grand total came to 365€. Hopefully, this will resolve all the issues!

I also own a Partner. Sounds like you might be having similar problems to what I experienced. I had issues with rough idling and the engine just felt… off. Did you check your air filter? A dirty filter can mess with the air intake and the air-fuel ratio, which could affect the mass air flow. Just a thought!
