Pathfinder Fuel Pump Plug Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2023 Nissan Pathfinder with a gasoline engine. It has just under 200,000 kilometers. The engine sometimes won't start, and when it does, it stalls, especially at idle. The check engine light is on, it runs rough, and fuel consumption has increased. The error code points to a fuel pump issue. Has anyone had similar problems? Could a bad cable or plug connection be the cause?

Summary of the thread

A 2023 Nissan Pathfinder with a gasoline engine was experiencing starting issues, stalling, rough running, increased fuel consumption, and a check engine light, with an error code indicating a fuel pump problem. The potential cause was suspected to be a bad cable or plug connection. After checking the fuel filter and fuel quality, it was advised to inspect the wires and connectors for damage. Ultimately, a workshop diagnosed and fixed a defective plug connection to the fuel pump, resolving the issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Whoa, that sounds frustrating! My old beater, a completely different make and model, once had similar symptoms. It turned out to be a clogged fuel filter starving the engine. Have you checked that yet? It's like trying to drink a milkshake through a coffee stirrer! Also, is it possible you got some bad gas? That can gunk things up and cause all sorts of weird issues. I'm no expert, but those are the first things that pop into my head.

Thanks. I checked the fuel filter and fuel quality recently, and I filled up at my usual station. Is there a way to check the cable or plug connection without special equipment?

Okay. If the fuel filter's good and you're confident in the fuel quality, then yeah, a bad connection is definitely possible. Without a multimeter or some diagnostic tool, it's going to be tough to pinpoint the exact problem. You could try visually inspecting the wires and connectors for damage like fraying or corrosion. But honestly, you might be better off taking it to a workshop. They have the tools to diagnose it properly. It's probably nothing major, but messing with the fuel system can be risky if you don't know what you're doing.

I took your advice and brought the Pathfinder to a workshop. It was a defective plug connection to the fuel pump, just like you suspected. The repair cost 95€, and it's running smoothly now. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
