Pathfinder Hybrid MAF Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Nissan Pathfinder Hybrid exhibited issues such as a check engine light, increased fuel consumption, engine stalling, and smoke during acceleration. These symptoms suggested a potential problem with the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. Cleaning the sensor was initially attempted, but a mechanic's diagnosis confirmed the need for replacement. After replacing the MAF sensor, the vehicle's performance returned to normal.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Thanks for the quick reply! How did you figure out it was the MAF sensor specifically? Were your symptoms exactly the same, especially the smoke? And is that difficult to replace?

My symptoms were practically identical, right down to the smoke on acceleration. I tried cleaning the MAF sensor first, but it didn't solve the problem. Eventually, a mechanic confirmed it was the sensor. I'd suggest getting it checked at a workshop; it might be more complex than just swapping it out yourself, especially on the hybrid.

Thanks for the info, that's super helpful! I took it to a mechanic, and you were right – it was the MAF sensor. Cost me about 365€ to get it replaced, but now everything is running smoothly again!

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms with my Pathfinder: check engine light, engine stalling. It might be your MAF sensor acting up. Have you checked the air intake to see if there's anything obvious blocking it? A dirty sensor can cause all sorts of problems.
