Pathfinder Outside Temperature Sensor Issue

Got a head-scratcher with my 2003 Nissan Pathfinder, diesel engine. The outside temperature sensor seems to have gone haywire. I'm getting an error stored in the memory, the AC refuses to kick on, the windshield washer nozzles are freezing up even when it's not THAT cold, and the mirror heating is MIA. I'm leaning towards a dodgy cable or plug connection on the sensor itself, especially given the age of the vehicle. Has anyone seen anything similar with these symptoms on their Pathfinder?

Summary of the thread

A 2003 Nissan Pathfinder with a diesel engine is experiencing issues with the outside temperature sensor, leading to an error code, non-functional AC, freezing windshield washer nozzles, and inactive mirror heating. The suspected cause is a faulty cable or plug connection due to the vehicle's age. After checking fuses and running a diagnostic scan, the problem was traced to a corroded connector, which was cleaned and re-seated by a mechanic, resolving all symptoms.

I understand you are experiencing issues with your Nissan Pathfinder's outside temperature sensor. Are you certain that all related fuses are in proper working order? Also, have you attempted a diagnostic scan to ascertain the specific error code associated with the sensor malfunction?

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I've checked all the relevant fuses and they're all good. I've also run a full diagnostic scan and it's flagging a fault with the outside temperature sensor circuit, but I'm trying to determine if there's a common point of failure (wiring loom, etc.) before replacing the sensor outright. Any chance there's a wiring diagram available?

The error code confirms a fault in the sensor circuit. Considering your due diligence in checking fuses and performing a diagnostic scan, alongside the age of the vehicle, a damaged wire or a corroded connector are plausible causes. However, I must advise that without specialized equipment and expertise, diagnosing the exact point of failure within the wiring harness may prove challenging. Proceeding to a qualified workshop is recommended to avert unintended complications.

Much appreciated. Ended up taking it to my trusted mechanic, they located a corroded connector, cleaned it up, and re-seated it. All symptoms are now resolved, and it only cost me 95€! Thanks for the advice.
