Pathfinder power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Nissan Pathfinder diesel experienced power loss and a check engine light. The initial suspicion was a faulty throttle valve or accelerator pedal module. Another suggestion was to check for air leaks affecting engine performance. The problem was confirmed to be a defective accelerator pedal module, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Air leaks? Where exactly should I be looking? And would that really cause such a dramatic loss of power?

Yes, especially on older models this can create problems with the engine idling. I'd say your best bet is taking it to a mechanic. It looks like the accelerator pedal module is defective. They will get all the air flow and electronic issues sorted, so you won't need to worry about fuel efficiency.

Took it to the workshop, you were spot on with the accelerator pedal module. New module and labour came to 265€. Runs like a dream now!

I had similar issues with my Pathfinder, though I can't remember the exact year. I think it's likely related to the air intake and the flow that goes with it. Have you checked for any air leaks?
