Yes, I've read the fault codes, which pointed to the transfer case. I'm wondering what the ABS issues were in your case, and if they were linked to the transfer case going into limp home mode?

Ah right. It was indeed the ABS. A faulty ABS sensor was messing with the vehicle speed input, which then caused the transfer case to act up in the same way. I suggest taking it to a workshop. They'll be able to diagnose for sure.

Took your advice and visited my local mechanic. As it turned out, you were absolutely correct. It was a faulty ABS sensor. They replaced it, and after clearing the codes, the car is running fine. No repair costs. Much appreciated!

I have a Pathfinder too. I had similar symptoms a while back. Did you check for any diagnostic trouble or fault codes? Limp mode can be triggered by a number of things. Is it only happening when the transfer case is engaged?
