Patrol Cold Start Injector Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Nissan Patrol is experiencing poor cold starts and rough engine performance initially. The issue is suspected to be related to the fuel injection system, particularly the cold start injector. A similar case was resolved by diagnosing and replacing a defective cold start injector, suggesting that proper testing of the injectors is a prudent first step before proceeding with repairs.

Interesting! How did you figure out it was the cold start injector specifically? Did you do some kind of injector test, or was it just obvious when you looked at it? I'm trying to avoid just throwing parts at it without knowing for sure. Was the fuel rail involved somehow?

Well, I did a bit of poking around, but honestly, I took it to a workshop. They ran some proper tests on the injectors. Turns out, the cold start injector was indeed defective. Best to get it properly diagnosed before replacing anything. I ended up paying around 515€ for the job. Fuel rail itself was fine in my case.

Okay, that's super helpful! I'll definitely look into getting the injectors tested. Sounds like that's the smartest way to go. Thanks a bunch for sharing your experience, really appreciate it! It gives me a place to start. I was afraid it was something with the ECU. Fingers crossed!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my Patrol (can't remember the exact year, but it's around the same vintage). Rough idle and struggling to start, especially when cold? Check your cold start injector. Mine was totally buggered. I bet that's your culprit. Fuel system issues are never fun...
