Thanks for the reply. I haven't considered those. Do you remember what your problem ended up being? Did you experience the same symptoms, especially the error?

Ah, yes, I recall now. The error memory was populated with a cryptic fault code. It turned out, after an expensive diagnostic procedure, that the root cause was the car battery itself, as you suspected. It had an internal short circuit, which was causing intermittent electrical gremlins. I was wrong to be skeptical! My apologies. I would still recommend you have a qualified technician inspect the vehicle before replacing any components, as the charging system may be defective.

Thanks for confirming, I appreciate the insight. I'll take it to the workshop and mention the potential charging system issue as well. Turns out it was the battery, just like I thought, and it set me back 290€. All good now.

I had a similar issue with my Nissan Patrol. I am skeptical about your car battery diagnosis. While a discharged battery could be the culprit, the engine shutting off suggests a more complex issue. Have you considered a faulty starter motor relay or a malfunctioning crankshaft position sensor? These are often overlooked.
