Persistent Low Tire Pressure Readings on 2017 Fiat Talento - Possible Sensor Issue?

Hey all, got a bit of a conundrum with my 2017 Fiat Talento, Diesel engine, she's done around 75k kms. It's giving me low tire pressure readings consistently, and I'm suspecting there's an issue with the sensor signal, not the actual tire pressure. Had a bit of a rotten experience with my mechanic last time around, so wondering if anyone else on here has experienced a similar issue? Any insights into what you did, or how your mechanic handled it, would be of great help. Thanks!

Summary of the thread

A 2017 Fiat Talento owner is experiencing persistent low tire pressure readings and suspects a sensor issue rather than actual tire pressure problems. A similar case with a 2014 Fiat Doblo revealed that the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor had failed due to a dead battery. Replacing the sensor resolved the issue, suggesting that checking and possibly replacing the TPMS sensor could be a solution for the Talento as well.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hey there! I actually ran into a similar issue with my 2014 Fiat Doblo. It kept giving me that annoying low tire pressure warning even though the tires were fine. Turned out it was the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) sensor that had conked out. The battery inside the sensor was dead. When I took it to the garage, at first, they thought it was just a faulty reading. But I insisted they check the sensors. In the end, they replaced the sensor. Once the new sensor was in, things went back to normal. It was not a serious issue, but it's always good to get this sorted cause you don't wanna be driving around thinking your tires are fine when they might not be. Hope this helps ya out!

Hey, that's relieving to hear. I had my suspicion pointed towards that TPMS sensor too. Do you recall approximately how much it did cost you back then to replace yours? And have you had any troubles with the replaced sensor since then? Cheers for the advice!

Hey! Good on you for following your instincts. Yeah, I do remember. I had to shell out about €280 to take care of the exhausted sensor battery. But it seemed worth it, you know? I just couldn't deal with that error signal popping up now and then. And since you asked, no new issues have come up since they fixed it. The sensor's been working like a charm with no additional troubles, touch wood. Let's hope yours gets sorted out just as smoothly. Drives easy!

I can't thank you enough for sharing your experience. I don't mind coughing up that kind of cash if it'll bring peace to my rides again, honestly. It's good to learn about your positive post-replacement experience too. Will definitely push my mechanic to look into the sensor. Thanks a ton kiwi, will definitely let you know how it goes. Safe driving!
