Peugeot 1007 automatic transmission issues

My 2005 Peugeot 1007 diesel is having weird automatic transmission issues at 127681 km. It's shifting implausibly, the transmission indicator light is on, and sometimes it doesn't shift as usual, even going into emergency mode. Could this be worn transmission oil or undervoltage?

Interesting. I had similar problems with my 1007's automatic gearbox. Is your battery on its last legs? Low voltage can definitely mess with the electronics controlling the transmission. Have you checked the battery's health recently?

That's a good point. I haven't checked the battery specifically, but the car starts fine. Could a slightly weak battery really cause such dramatic transmission issues? What did you experience?

Yes, even if the car starts, a slightly weak battery can cause havoc with the automatic transmission's electronic control unit. I had the same symptoms: erratic shifting and the emergency mode. I'd suggest getting the battery properly tested and the transmission checked at a workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were spot on. The battery was indeed weak, and the transmission oil was worn out. Got them both replaced, along with a transmission flush. Cost me 240€, but it fixed the problem! The car shifts smoothly now.
