Peugeot 1007 Belt Handover Failure

Evening. My 2008 Peugeot 1007, gasoline engine, with 236388 km, has a belt-handover that no longer works. I suspect the belt bringer/handover is defective. Has anyone had similar issues with the tensioner pulley?

I had a similar issue with my 1007. The timing belt tensioner pulley was to blame and caused some pretty rough engine performance until I got it sorted. Were there any squealing or chirping noises coming from the engine before the belt-handover stopped working?

Thanks for the quick response. No squealing or chirping that I noticed, just a sudden failure of the handover. Did yours give out completely, or was it more gradual? I'm wondering if the idler pulley is also involved here.

Mine failed completely and quite suddenly, yes. Given your mileage, it is wise to have a workshop take a look at it sooner rather than later.

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I took it to the workshop, and you were right – the belt tensioner was defective. Total repair cost came to 455€. All sorted now!
