Peugeot 1007 Camshaft Sensor Issue

Hey, I'm kinda freaking out. My 2006 Peugeot 1007 diesel is acting up big time. It's got 204711 km on the clock. Lately, it starts super rough, sometimes stalls at idle, and of course, the check engine light is mocking me. I plugged in a reader, and it's throwing a code related to the camshaft sensor. I've been reading online that it could be the encoder wheel on the camshaft itself? Anyone else had this nightmare?

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my 1007. Check engine light and stalling were the worst. Did you check the crankshaft sensor too? Sometimes those two work together to cause problems.

Interesting, I hadn't thought about the crankshaft sensor. Where is that located, and is there an easy way to test it before I start tearing things apart? Also, what was the eventual cause of your issue?

Honestly, I didn't mess with it myself. I took it straight to a mechanic. But from what I remember, they mentioned something about the camshaft sensor being the main culprit. If you're not comfortable with sensor testing, I'd suggest getting it checked out. Could save you a lot of headache.

Alright, thanks for the advice. I took it to my usual workshop. Turns out it was indeed the camshaft sensor, like the error code said. They ended up replacing it. The bill came to 695€, ouch! But at least it's running smoothly again.
