Everything seemed fine when I put it back together. The filter was new. Is there anything specific I should check?

Okay, a new filter rules out a blockage there. It does sound like a fuel pressure issue, and since it happened right after the filter change, that area is suspect. It might be an error entry. I would say that your assessment of the fuel pressure regulator might be spot on. In your place, I'd take it to a workshop; they'll read out the error codes and measure the fuel pressure. It's better to be safe than sorry, and saves you time instead of tinkering without the right tools.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to a local workshop, and you were right. The fuel pressure regulator was defective. They replaced it and cleared the error codes. Total cost was 45€. Runs like new now.

I had similar problems with my 1007. Those symptoms sound awfully familiar. After changing the fuel filter, did you make sure everything was properly seated and tightened? It could be as simple as a pressure drop due to a loose connection. It's like when you don't screw the cap on tight enough on a bottle of soda, and it goes flat. Was the fuel filter new or used?
