Peugeot 1007 fuel consumption and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Peugeot 1007 diesel is experiencing increased fuel consumption, engine stalling when idling, and a check engine light, with smoke observed during acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the mass air flow (MAF) sensor, which affects the air-fuel ratio and engine performance. The problem was resolved by replacing the faulty MAF sensor, which restored normal vehicle function.

Yes, there's definitely a performance decline. Acceleration isn't what it used to be. How did you fix the problem? Was it definitely the MAF sensor?

It does sound like MAF sensor failure. While cleaning it might offer a temporary fix, a proper replacement is likely necessary. Given the stalling and smoke, I'd suggest a workshop visit for a diagnostic check. A defective sensor can indeed cause these issues.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and it was indeed the mass air flow meter. The replacement cost me 365€. Problem solved!

I had similar symptoms on my 1007. Have you noticed any performance decline, especially when accelerating? It might be related to the air-fuel ratio if the MAF sensor is failing.
