Peugeot 1007 fuel consumption and stalling

Hi, I've got a 2009 Peugeot 1007 diesel with a strange issue. Lately, the fuel consumption has increased noticeably. Sometimes the engine even stalls when idling. The check engine light is also on, and I've noticed some smoke when accelerating. The car has only done 36696 km. Could it be the mass air flow meter, perhaps?

I had similar symptoms on my 1007. Have you noticed any performance decline, especially when accelerating? It might be related to the air-fuel ratio if the MAF sensor is failing.

Yes, there's definitely a performance decline. Acceleration isn't what it used to be. How did you fix the problem? Was it definitely the MAF sensor?

It does sound like MAF sensor failure. While cleaning it might offer a temporary fix, a proper replacement is likely necessary. Given the stalling and smoke, I'd suggest a workshop visit for a diagnostic check. A defective sensor can indeed cause these issues.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I took it to the workshop, and it was indeed the mass air flow meter. The replacement cost me 365€. Problem solved!
