That's interesting! When you say "clogged up with gunk," are we talking about a simple cleaning job, or is there more to it? If a simple clean doesn't work, when would you think about replacing parts or the whole throttle body?

Well, I tried cleaning it thoroughly, but the problem kept happening. The valve itself might be bad. I'm no mechanic, but if cleaning doesn't fix it, a workshop might be the next stop. I paid around 350€ to get it sorted on my Corsa. I'd say go to a workshop, just to be safe.

I appreciate the insight! A workshop visit seemed right. Turns out the idle air control valve was indeed the problem, and the intake manifold was super dirty. The whole repair cost me about 425€, but at least the car is running smoothly again. Thanks again!

Wow, that sounds frustrating! Funnily enough, I had almost the exact same thing happen with my old Opel Corsa a while back. Same symptoms: check engine light, stalling, the whole shebang! Could it be that the throttle body is clogged up with gunk? If so, wouldn't that mess with the idle speed? Have you checked to see if it is really dirty?
