Peugeot 1007 Overvoltage Error
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Peugeot 1007 was experiencing persistent electrical issues, including an overvoltage error, onboard system failures, and a weak battery during engine starts. The problem was suspected to be related to the car's ECU, but a failing alternator or voltage regulator was also considered. It was suggested that a weak battery could cause the alternator to overcompensate, leading to voltage spikes. Replacing the battery resolved the issues, confirming that the weak battery was the root cause.

Thanks for the swift reply! I have checked the battery, and while it holds a charge, it does seem weaker than usual. Could a weak battery truly cause the system to report overvoltage, or might it be a symptom of the overvoltage condition itself, slowly damaging the battery?

A weak battery can definitely trigger an overvoltage scenario. The alternator works overtime to charge a failing battery, leading to voltage spikes. I still would take it to a workshop for detailed analysis.

Understood, I appreciate your help in clarifying the battery's role. You were right, a new battery resolved the issues, the garage confirmed. Final cost: 290€ Thank you again!

Sounds like it could be a serious power surge. Did you check the battery condition? A heavily discharged or defective battery can cause overvoltage issues as the alternator tries to compensate.
