Peugeot 1007 preheating lamp check engine light smoking

Hi, my Peugeot 1007, 2006 diesel, is giving me headaches. The preheating lamp won't turn off, the check engine light is on, and it smokes like crazy when I accelerate. The car has 243132 km. I've checked a few things, and I suspect it might be the glow control unit. Could be a faulty cable or plug, maybe? Any ideas?

I had a similar issue with my 1007. Was the vehicle stalling or experiencing engine misfires, especially during cold starts? Have you performed a diagnostic test to confirm the 'glow control unit defective' error?

Yes to all of that! Stalling, misfires, and it's awful on cold starts. I have read the error with the OBD2 scanner which reports 'glow control unit defective'. Did you solve your issue by yourself or brought the car to the workshop?

In my case, the diagnostic test confirmed the defective control unit. Considering the symptoms and the error code, a visit to a workshop is advisable for a thorough inspection and replacement of the faulty component, instead of doing it by yourself.

Thanks a lot for your help! I took it to the workshop, and you were right. It was indeed the glow control unit, and the cable/plug was defective. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Runs like a charm now!
