Peugeot 1007 rough idle and stalling

My 2006 Peugeot 1007 (gasoline engine) is giving me a headache. It's got about 226460 km on the clock and sometimes refuses to start. When it does, it idles like it's got a bad cough and then dies. The check engine light is on, and the engine runs rough. I swear I'm filling up more often too. A quick scan showed a fuel-related error. Could it be the fuel pump? I am not sure where to even start looking...

Summary of the thread

A 2006 Peugeot 1007 with a gasoline engine was experiencing rough idling, stalling, and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a check engine light and a fuel-related error code. The initial suspicion was a potential fuel pump issue. However, it was suggested to check the cable and plug connections to the fuel pump, as a defective connection could mimic pump failure. Upon professional inspection, a loose connection to the fuel pump was identified and fixed, resolving the problem.

The symptoms you describe, including engine stalling, rough running, increased fuel consumption and a stored error code, do suggest a potential fuel pump issue. However, before assuming complete pump failure, it would be prudent to examine the cable and plug connections associated with the fuel pump. A defective connection can mimic pump failure.

Okay, thanks! Where exactly would I find those connections to check them? Are there any common spots where they tend to fail? Any advice before I start poking around?

Considering the error code in conjunction with the other symptoms, the likelihood of a faulty cable or plug connection is considerable. Given your stated level of expertise, it is advisable to consult with a qualified automotive technician for accurate diagnosis and rectification of the issue.

Thanks! I took your advice and brought it to a workshop. Turns out it was a loose connection to the fuel pump, just like you said! They cleaned it up and secured it properly. Cost me 95€, but at least it's running smoothly again. Cheers for the help!
