Peugeot 106 Audio System Failure

Hi, I've got a 2003 Peugeot 106 Electric, and the audio system has completely died. The display is blank, no sound, and none of the dashboard controls are working. I also plugged it into a diagnostic tool, and it's showing an error stored in the memory, but nothing specific about the audio system itself. Any ideas? I'm thinking it might be a Bluetooth problem or a defective head unit.

Greetings. I have a Peugeot 106 as well, although a different engine. I experienced a similar issue with my audio system a while back. By 'audio system,' I assume you are referring to the integrated head unit that controls the radio, CD player, and potentially other audio inputs, correct? The fact that you are receiving an error code, even an unspecific one, suggests a deeper problem than just a blown fuse or a loose connection. Did the error code appear before the audio system stopped working, or did the issues happen at the the same time?

The error code appeared at the same time the audio system stopped working, so it seems to be linked. What was the cause when you had your problem, and how did you fix it?

In my case, the error message plus the lack of audio were both due to a defective display. Unfortunately, given the complexity of modern car electronics and the potential for damage while tinkering, I would strongly suggest taking your Peugeot 106 to a qualified workshop to have the audio system diagnosed and repaired. A professional will have the necessary tools and expertise to pinpoint the exact cause of the issue and perform the repair safely and effectively. In my case the repair cost me 725€

Thanks for the advice! I'll book it in with a workshop. Looks like it might be a bit beyond my skills to fix myself. Turns out you were right, the workshop confirmed that the display was defective. The car is now in the workshop for the repair.
