Interesting! I haven't specifically looked for leaks, but I'll definitely check that out. Where exactly on the exhaust system should I be looking? Any specific components that are more prone to leaking, like around the exhaust sensor?

On my Volvo, it was a cracked flex pipe right before the catalytic converter. The garage found it pretty quickly with a smoke test. Honestly, with exhaust issues, unless you're really comfortable working on cars, it's often best to let a pro take a look. They'll have the tools and know-how to pinpoint the exact problem.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a workshop, and you were right – a small leak in the exhaust was causing the exhaust temperature sensor to give incorrect readings. They replaced the sensor and fixed the leak. Cost me 265€, but now it runs like a charm again!

Sounds familiar! I had similar symptoms on my old Volvo V70 – check engine light, sluggish performance, and drinking fuel like crazy. Turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system messing with the readings. Have you had a look for any hissing sounds or soot around the exhaust?
