Peugeot 106 Diesel Fuel Consumption and Stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Peugeot 106 diesel is experiencing higher fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, and the check engine light is on, accompanied by smoke during acceleration. The issue is suspected to be related to the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the MAF sensor was the problem, and replacing it resolved the issues.

Air filter looks ok. How did you solve your problem? Was it the mass air flow sensor?

Yeah, pretty sure it was the MAF sensor. If the light's on, best to get it checked at a workshop. They can confirm it with a diagnostic tool.

Thanks for the advice. Took it to a shop, and it was indeed the mass air flow meter. Cost me 365€ to replace. Runs much better now.

Sounds like it. I had similar issues with my 106 - check engine light, poor fuel economy. Have you checked your air filter? Could be a blocked air intake too.
