Peugeot 106 high fuel consumption

Having trouble with my 2003 Peugeot 106 diesel. Only 29093 km. Higher fuel consumption and poor starting. I suspect the throttle valve. Could it be the accelerator pedal module? Anyone seen this?

Sounds familiar. My old Opel Corsa had similar issues, though it was petrol. Higher fuel consumption and poor starting were symptoms. Wonder if it's the control valve? Did you try cleaning the engine throttle?

Thanks! I haven't cleaned the engine throttle yet. How hard was it to clean the throttle on your Corsa, and did it improve your engine idle?

Cleaning helped a little, but the problem returned. Eventually, it was a faulty pedal module. I'd suggest a workshop; they can diagnose it.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Shop confirmed it was a defective accelerator pedal module. Repair cost 205€. Fuel efficiency is back and it starts great.
