Peugeot 106 Jerking Acceleration Whistling Noise

Hey, I'm having a really annoying problem with my 2003 Peugeot 106, gasoline engine. The check engine light keeps popping on, and the car jerks like crazy when I try to accelerate. Plus, there's this weird whistling noise, almost a loud hissing sound, when I put my foot down. Sometimes it even stalls at idle! I've noticed my fuel consumption is way up, and the engine just feels weak. I've been reading online, and it sounds like it might be a bad boost pressure sensor, maybe a dodgy connection in the cable or plug? Anyone else had this?

Summary of the thread

A 2003 Peugeot 106 was experiencing jerking acceleration, a whistling noise, increased fuel consumption, and occasional stalling. The problem was suspected to be related to a faulty boost pressure sensor or a damaged cable connection. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the boost pressure sensor and its connector were indeed the issues. Replacing the sensor and fixing the connector resolved the problem, restoring the car's performance.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had similar symptoms on my Peugeot 106. Does the whistling noise sound like it's coming from the intake manifold area? Also, have you checked the air intake for any obstructions or leaks? It might be worthwhile inspecting the turbo system components as well. A faulty pressure sensor can indeed cause those issues.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, the whistling definitely seems to be coming from the intake manifold area. What exactly did you do to fix yours? Did you replace the pressure sensor itself, or was it just a loose connection?

In my case, I had the exact same symptoms you described. While it could be a loose connection as you suspected, I would highly advise taking your car to a workshop. They can accurately diagnose the issue. Messing with the turbo system without proper knowledge can be risky.

Thanks for the advice, I took it to the shop and they said it was indeed the boost pressure sensor, just like I thought. The cable connector was damaged! They replaced the sensor and fixed the connector, and the total cost was 95€. Runs like a dream now!
