Peugeot 106 Loud Exhaust
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Peugeot 106 owner is experiencing a loud exhaust noise, particularly during cold starts, and suspects defective exhaust flaps. Another owner with a similar issue suggests that the problem might be related to the exhaust needing a new valve, which was resolved by a mechanic. The recommended solution is to visit a workshop for professional diagnosis and repair.

Yeah, that's exactly it! Noise quiets down a bit after a few minutes. Did you ever figure out what exactly was causing it? Was it definitely the exhaust flaps?

Okay, sounds like we had the same problem! I never got to the bottom of it, to be honest. I took it to a workshop and they sorted it out. They mentioned something about the exhaust needing a new valve or something, but I can't recall exactly. I do remember it costing around 190€. So yeah, take it to the shop, they'll know!

Thanks for the info! Sounds like a trip to the mechanic is in order. Good to know what to expect in terms of cost, too. Cheers!

Hey! Funny you should mention it, I drive a 106 as well and experienced something similar a while back. Louder exhaust, especially when the engine was cold. Did the noise eventually quiet down after the engine warmed up? For me it was like the exhaust was blowing right into my ears!
