Peugeot 106 Massage Seat Failure

My 2001 Peugeot 106 with a gasoline engine has a massage function in the driver's seat that stopped working at 290132 km. The switch does nothing, and there's an error code logged. Could it be a defective cable or plug? Has anyone else had this?

That is unusual for a car of that age! The massage seat function wasn't a common option on the 106, so it might be difficult to find someone with direct experience. Does the seat adjustment motor still work, or is that also affected? Have you checked the fuses related to the seat? Also, did you retrofit the massage function, or did the car come from the factory with it?

The regular seat adjustment functions continue to operate. I have inspected the fuses, and they appear to be in good order. The massage function was factory-installed as part of a 'luxury' package. Given that the standard seat functions are unaffected, could the problem be isolated to the massage switch or its wiring?

Okay, a factory-fitted massage function on a 106 is pretty rare! If the standard seat adjustments work, and the fuse is good, then yes, it does sound like the switch or its wiring are the most likely culprits. Given the complexity of diagnosing electrical faults without the right tools, and the potential for causing further damage, I would recommend taking it to a workshop. They will be able to properly test the switch, wiring, and motor.

I took my Peugeot to a local workshop. The mechanic found a loose connection in the switch itself. After re-soldering it, the massage function is now working perfectly again! The total repair cost came to 95€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
