Peugeot 106 Parking Aid Failure
Summary of the thread
The parking aid on a 2002 Peugeot 106 is malfunctioning, with an error stored in the system. The issue might be due to a bad cable or plug, as suspected by the owner. A suggestion was made to check the ultrasonic sensors for dirt or damage and to inspect cable connections for any loose or broken wires. It is recommended to have a mechanic thoroughly examine the cables and sensors to identify and resolve the problem.

Thanks. I've looked at the ultrasonic sensors for damage, but I haven't tested them. I used an OBD II scanner to read the codes.

Right, just a visual check might not be enough, those sensors can be tricky. The OBD II scanner is a good start. Sounds like you have a similar problem than I had. I would suggest to go to the workshop, so they can check the cable connections more thoroughly than you can do. In the end they found a broken cable, so they had to exchange it. That was quite it.

I appreciate your advice. I'll get a mechanic to check the cables and sensors. I will let you know the result. The estimated repair cost is 95€.

Hey, I had something similar with my old Opel Astra, although it's a different car. My parking sensors went crazy. Have you checked the ultrasonic sensors themselves? Sometimes they get dirty or damaged. The 'error in memory' thing sounds like it could be a loose connection somewhere, like you suspect. Where did you check for errors?
