Peugeot 106 preheating lamp issue

Hi, I've got a 2000 Peugeot 106 diesel with nearly 300k km. Recently, the preheating lamp stays on, and the check engine light is on. Also getting some smoke when accelerating. I suspect the preheating control unit is defective. I've checked the wiring and plugs, but I'm thinking it's a bad connection somewhere. Anyone else had this issue?

Sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my 106. The preheating lamp staying on is a classic symptom. I'd bet it's an electrical fault somewhere in the preheater circuit. But I'm no expert.

Interesting. Did you also experience the smoke and check engine light, or just the preheating lamp issue?

Yeah, the check engine light definitely came on, and I did notice a bit of smoke, especially on startup. Honestly, I poked around a bit but then I just took it to a workshop. They sorted it out pretty quickly. Best bet.

Cheers! I feared it might be workshop time. It was a dodgy connection to the preheating control unit as suspected. Cost me 95€ to get it sorted. Appreciate the advice!
