Peugeot 106 Rough Cold Starts

My 2002 Peugeot 106 diesel is running rough during cold starts, almost like it's not getting enough fuel. The engine management light is on, showing an error related to the auxiliary heater. Also, my fuel consumption is higher than usual. Could this be related to the PTC heater? It's got 218464 km on the clock.

I had a similar issue with my old Renault Megane, although it was a petrol engine. Rough idling on cold starts and a strange electrical fault. Did you check the blower motor? It could be related, as both are part of the electrical system.

Interesting. I haven't checked the blower motor specifically. How would the blower motor affect the engine running rough? Was your Megane showing similar symptoms, like increased fuel consumption?

On the Megane, the blower motor was drawing too much power, which affected the overall electrical system and threw off the engine management. It did lead to a slight increase in fuel consumption. Given the error code, I'd suggest you take your Peugeot to a workshop and have the PTC heater checked out by a professional. It could be a defective electric auxiliary heater.

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate you sharing your experience with the Megane. I took it to the garage, and you were right; the PTC heater was the culprit. Repair cost me 350€. Runs much better now!
