Peugeot 106 Running Rich
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Peugeot 106 is experiencing issues with running excessively rich, leading to reduced power, a check engine light, rough running, increased fuel consumption, and jerking during acceleration. Initial checks of the spark plugs and air filter showed no issues, suggesting a possible problem with the fuel injector. Another potential cause could be a faulty lambda sensor, which can be tested by unplugging it to see if the engine runs smoother. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a defective fuel injector, which was replaced, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. If I unplug the lambda sensor, what should I expect to change if that's the problem? Should the engine run smoother, or is there something else I should look for?

Smoother running. But with those symptoms, and mileage, injector is odds-on. Workshop time.

Thanks for the help. It turned out to be a defective fuel injector, just like you suspected. The workshop confirmed it and replaced it. The total cost was 515€. The car runs perfectly now.

Rich mixture, check engine – injector likely. Lambda sensor could cause similar. Unplug it, see if anything changes.
