Peugeot 106 Stalling

I've got a 2001 Peugeot 106 diesel and it's driving me nuts! It starts so poorly, like it's really struggling, and then it just stalls sometimes when I'm idling. Oh, and the check engine light is mocking me from the dashboard. Could it be the crankshaft sensor?

Sounds familiar. I had similar issues with my 106. Check engine light, stalling... was a nightmare. Did you check the camshaft position sensor?

The camshaft position sensor, huh? Where exactly is that located, and is it a pain to replace? Is it related to the encoder wheel on the camshafts, maybe that's the actual problem?

Yeah, that's what it was for me. Turned out to be the encoder wheel on the camshafts was defective, which made the camshaft sensor throw a code and act up. Honestly, unless you're really confident, I'd get it checked by a workshop. Saved me a lot of hassle.

Thanks so much for the heads up! Took it to the shop as you suggested and you were spot on! It was the camshaft sensor. Cost me 695€ to get it all sorted but at least it's running smoothly again. Really appreciate the help!
