Peugeot 106 Tire Valve ABS Power Steering

The pressure drops noticeably overnight – like, from the recommended pressure down to almost flat. I did have a quick look but couldn't see any obvious nails. I'll definitely check around the valve more closely for that hissing sound. So, you reckon a defective valve could cause all these issues, like the ABS light and power steering problems?

That rapid pressure loss definitely suggests a leak. In my case, it was the tire valve! Because of the pressure loss, the car's systems go haywire. The ABS light comes on because the car detects a difference in wheel speed, and the power steering gets affected as it's all interconnected. With those symptoms and the pressure loss, I'd get it checked out at a workshop ASAP. Driving like that isn't safe, and you risk damaging other components.

Took it to the garage, and you were spot on – it was indeed a faulty valve in the tire causing all the problems. New valve fitted, all sorted, and warning lights are gone. Cost me 280€, but worth it for the peace of mind and the power steering back!

I had something similar with my 106. ABS light, shaking steering, and heavy steering sounds familiar! The fact that you've got a pressure loss points towards a possible air leak. Have you checked for any visible punctures or damage on the tire? Listen closely around the valve – you might be able to hear a slight hissing sound if the valve itself is defective. Is the pressure loss significant over a short period, or is it a slow leak?
