Peugeot 106 Undervoltage Alternator

I'm stumped. My 2003 Peugeot 106, gasoline engine, is acting up. Mileage is 171783 km. I'm seeing undervoltage somewhere. It starts poorly, and I get system failures – ABS, airbag lights. Headlights are dim and flicker, and the battery feels weak. Battery terminals are clean and properly connected. I think the battery is heavily discharged, but I wanted other opinions before buying a new one. Anyone seen this?

I recall similar issues with my Peugeot 106. Did you assess the alternator's output? An underperforming alternator won't adequately charge the battery, leading to those symptoms. Any unusual noises from the alternator area?

Thanks! No, I haven't checked the alternator output. I don't have the tools to measure voltage while the engine is running. And no, I haven't noticed strange noises. Where did you find the issue on yours? Was it the alternator itself, or something else?

In my case, it was a failing alternator. Given you can't test the output, I recommend professional diagnostics. Continuing to drive it like this may worsen the problem and damage other electrical parts.

Okay, I appreciate the advice! The mechanic confirmed it was the alternator. They replaced it, and the battery was too drained, so it needed replacing too. Total cost was 290€, but everything's running smoothly now. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
