Peugeot 106 Wiper Problem

My 2003 Peugeot 106 with a gasoline engine has a wiper problem. The windshield wipers are not working, and there's an error stored in the error memory. Could a defective cable or plug connection be the cause?

Sounds plausible. Does the turn signal work? Sometimes those circuits are linked. Have you checked the fuse box? A blown fuse could also cause car wipers to suddenly stop working.

The turn signal is working fine. I did check the fuses; they all seem okay. Could it be something related to the rain sensor or cruise control, even though those features aren't standard on this model?

Nah, rain sensor and cruise control are unlikely on a 106 of that year. Given what you've checked, it's pointing more and more to a faulty connection somewhere in the wiper circuit. Probably best to have a workshop take a look before you start replacing parts randomly.

Thanks for the confirmation. Took it to the shop, and you were right – a corroded connector. Repair cost 95€.
